The fins, which they are even or odd, with thorny departments (Boom, Sandre…) or soft (Trout, Pike…), have each one a precise role in the way in which a fish in water. The pectoral ones can, with the aid of the ridge, to be used as stabilizers. They are used very often to maneuver, change management and to slow down. The pelvic ones are used with balance and the management of fish. They also allow certain fish to excavate in order to find their food. The caudal fin is used for the propulsion and the changes of management. As regards the anal fin, it takes part the dorsal fin just like, with balance vertical of fish. To be complete and although it is especially present , the fat fin, located between the ridge and the caudal one, is so to speak not used and is deprived of departments.
The scales are not present on each fish, which is the case of the shark or the Line for example. At much of others, the scales recover the ones partly the others, in regular lines. One distinguishes 2 types of scales:

|
Smooth scales (Herring, Cod…) and rough scales (, Chubs…). Because of their recovery, it is possible to see that 1/5e each scale and on each one, one can count the rings of growth (Scale measurement).
